Weekend Events: April 27th Edition
Happy Friday, Eastie! I hope all of our kids had a great April vacation! It seems like Spring weather has finally arrived. We have lots of events happening this week, so check them out below.
The library is showing a documentary today at 4pm titled Displacement: the Struggle to Remain Home. This highlights the struggles that Hispanic residents have to stay in Eastie.
NUBE is hosting an event from 6-9pm. to honor the legacy of MLK.
VRCC is hosting a House of Mambo Salsa Social starting at 8pm.
There is a quick Jeffries Point clean-up on Saturday, April 28th, from 10-11am.
East Boston Athletic Board’s 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament starts at 10am at the Don Orione.
The next $5 community class at The Point EB is from 12-1pm.
Piers Park Sailing Center is celebrating their 20th Year Anniversary from 12-3pm. All are welcome and there will be free sailing!
The next Yu-Gi-Oh club for teens at the library is from 1-4pm.
There is a CD release party for Venezuelan Harpist Eduardo Betancourt at VRCC from 8-11pm.
ZUMIX’s Walk for Music 2018 is on Sunday, April 29th, starting at 12:30pm.
There is a Kick It By Eliza class at The Point EB at 2pm.
VRCC is celebrating Dia del Nino (Children’s Day) from 2-5pm. There will be cultural performances for all!
The East Boston Kids Pop-Up Choir will meet at the library on Monday, April 30th, from 5-6pm. They will also meet on Thursday of next week.
There is a community conversation about climate resilience at the library from 6:15-8pm. Dinner will be served for those who RSVP!
The next ESL and computer skills class for BPS parents is at the YMCA on Tuesday, May 1st, from 10am-12:30pm. This will also meet on Wednesday.
The next Eliot School Tinkering and Inventions Program will be at the library at 4pm. This is a problem-solving program for children ages 7-10.
The next Tech Goes Home class will meet from 6-8pm.
The next East Boston YMCA art class for kids ages 6-12 will meet on Wednesday, May 2nd, from 4-5pm.
The next Wednesday night Zumba class at the Marty Pino Gym will run from 6:30-7:30pm.
Join Mayor Walsh for the annual Eastie coffee hour on Thursday, May 3rd, from 9:30-10:30am at LoPresti Park.
The next Namastay Sober community class will run from 5:15-6:15pm at The Point EB.
A free, 12-week Power of Parenting Workshop begins at 5:30pm. This is aimed for parents who have children ages birth-3 years.
